About 1950 Danish cellist Jarl Hansen as a member of the Royal Danish Opera Orchestra he became increasingly interested in the quality and sound of strings until 1956, when he was ready to start his own company, Jargar Strings.
Jarl Hansen developed a steel core based string, wound with thin threads of pure or alloyed metal. It is now one of the leading manufacturers of classic strings in the world. The manufacturing plant is based in Denmark.
