The Stainless Steel honors the 100+ year prestige of Ludwig Snare Drum craftsmanship. It provides the high volume performance drummers demand. Pure attack, bite, and focus for optimal presence.
The brand achieved significant popularity in the 1960s due to the endorsement of the Beatles drummer Ringo Starr. Highlights was when The Beatles made their historic American TV debut on The Ed Sullivan Show and the production of the legendary Ludwig 400 Supra-Phonic Snare Drum begun, both in 1964. On 4 November 1981, William F Ludwig II sold the business to the Conn-Selmer. In 1984 Selmer closed the Damen Avenue factory and moved the drum production business to Monroe, North Carolina.
