  • DESCRIPTION
Aggouridakis Lefteris - Percussions (Breath, Sound, Improvisation)

After the publication of Lefteris Aggouridakis's first book, "The percussion in traditional Greek music" (Do Re Mi Editions, 1997), his second book titled "Percusion. Breath, Sound, Improvisation", is a sequel that comes after years of experience in percussion lessons conducted on a one-to-one and in group tutorials.
The first part of the book consists of exercises in percussion techniques which are played in three ways. Slow, fast, opposite hands. The second part includes rhythms from the Mediterranean, Africa and Latin America. In the third part, the author conveys ways in which one can gradually understand the ideas of improvisation and free expression. In the fourth part, the reader will find orchestrated pieces for street bands and percussion ensembles using instruments from the Mediterranean, Africa and Latin America, most of which were played in the lessons conducted by the author as well in the concerts put on by the AiNTOS Percussion Group in Kilkis, the Aeginian Percussion Group and the Thessaloniki Percussion Circle group. This book is useful for advanced percussionists. It can also be taught in conservatories, music academies and music high schools.
