DESCRIPTION
Burgmuller Johann Friedrich - 25 Easy & Progressive Studies Op. 100 BK / CD / MP3
Burgmuller Johann Friedrich (December 4, 1806 - February 13, 1874)
German composer and pianist. He was born in Regensburg, Germany. His father Augustus and his brother Norbert were both musicians. His father was a director at the musical theater of Weimar and other artistic centers in Southern Germany. Friedrich studied with Ludwig Spohr and Moritz Hauptmann. After years of studying with Ludwig Spohr and Moritz Hauptmann, he moved to Paris in 1832 where he stayed until his death. There he adopted the Parisian musical style and developed his own light style of playing. He wrote many pieces of salon music for piano and released several albums. Burgmuller also composed piano exercises for young students, which are known until today. In a large range of educational collections, pieces from his Op. 68, 76, 100, 105 and 109 and from his Ballade are included. Besides these pieces for piano, he composed works without opus numbers, such as variations, waltzes, nocturnes and polonaises. He composed pieces for the theater and two ballets La Peri and Lady Harriet.
His most popular and widely played work is the Peasant Pas de Deux which was included in the ballet Giselle for its premiere in 1841. The original title of this work was Souvenirs de Ratisbonne and it is still played in every performance of Giselle. In his Opus 100 consisting of 25 studies, he charmed many with pieces such as La Candeur, La Chevalresque, L' Arabesque and Ballade. More demanding pieces are the 18 Characteristic Studies, opus 109 but the 12 pieces of Opus 105 are even more demanding. The Opus 109 contains famous pieces such as Les Perles (The Pearls) and L' Orage (The Storm).
Includes CD for easy practice.
